COVID Update: ASHL games in Ontario to pause as of January 5th

Last Updated: January 3rd, 2022

TORONTO, ONT. – The Province of Ontario has announced that, effective 12:01 a.m. on January 5th, Ontario will return to a Modified Step Two of the Province’s Roadmap to Reopen.

The introduction of these new public health measures will be in effect for a period of at least 21 days, set to expire as early as January 26th, 2022.

While these measures are in effect, the Provincial Government has mandated that indoor sport and recreational facilities must close to the general public, with the exception of select professional and elite amateur high performance athletes.

So, you’re probably wondering what this means for the ASHL Winter ’21/22 season at our Ontario locations:

◾January 3rd + 4th Games: ASHL games for Monday January 3rd and Tuesday January 4th will be played as scheduled. Participants will be permitted to be accompanied by no more than one (1) spectator and dressing rooms will be accessible 15 minutes prior to the scheduled game time. All patrons will continue to be required to provide proof of vaccination, as well as a completed Canlan Health Check.
◾Scheduled games between January 5th – 25th: All scheduled games during this time-frame will be postponed at this time. Based on the fluid situation and potential for re-starting games on January 26th, we will be determining the viability for completing the full allotment of guaranteed games + playoffs at each location by April 30th, 2022.

We’ll be providing additional information and updates to our participants as it becomes available. Canlan Sports and the ASHL continue to prioritize the health and safety of our players, and we look forward to getting back on the ice as soon as public health measures permit the resumption of gameplay.
