ASHL UPDATE: WINNIPEG

 📅 Updated: February 19th, 2021

WINNIPEG, Man. — On February 19th, the Manitoba Provincial Government announced an additional loosening of restrictions that would extend until 12:01 a.m. on March 5th. As part of these restrictions, indoor team sport gameplay remains prohibited within the Province, and strict restrictions remain in place on indoor ice rinks as it pertains to additional programming.

As cases in the Province continue to decline, we remain optimistic that the Provincial Government will see the value in sport for Manitobans and will find a way to safely permit its return. On that note, the Government is currently looking for feedback from residents with respect to what they would like to see included in the next round of loosened restrictions. So, where does this leave us for the Winter ’20/21 season?

Should Provincial restrictions on gameplay be lifted, we would prepare to re-start the Winter ’20/21 season as efficiently as possible, maintaining all of the enhanced safety protocols we’ve got in place at the facility to welcome back ASHL gameplay. Here’s the minimum requirements we need to have to re-start the season:

  • ◾ Latest Possible Re-start Date: April 4th
  • ◾ Latest Possible End Date: May 20th
  • ◾ Minimum Number of Games: 8

*In this scenario, team fees will be pro-rated based on the number of games that are able to be played as part of the revised Winter ’20/21 season.

What if the Winter ’20/21 season is unable to re-start?

Should it become clear that the minimum requirements for a re-start to the season aren’t viable, the Winter ‘20/21 season will be cancelled, and we’ll shift our focus to the Summer ’21 season. Any payment credits will automatically be added to a team’s account, and we’ll provide additional instruction to team reps regarding options for their credit should the Winter ‘20/21 season be cancelled.
