ASHL Update: Oshawa

November 20th, 2020

OSHAWA, ONT. — On Friday November 20th, the Ontario Provincial Government announced that Durham Region will be transitioning to the red tier of the Province’s COVID-19 response framework, which restricts sports from being able to engage in scrimmages or gameplay. These restrictions are set to take effect as of 12:01 a.m. on Monday November 23rd.

Prior to these restrictions taking effect, all ASHL games on Friday November 20th, Saturday November 21st, and Sunday November 22nd will be played as scheduled.

As of November 23rd, the ASHL Fall ’20 and ASHL Rivals Tournament Series will be paused as we monitor the public health situation and assess our ability to restart the season should Durham Region be moved back into the orange tier.

Additional information will be communicated to participants as it becomes available, and we certainly appreciate your patience in the meantime. Please refer to the FAQ’s below for further assistance regarding any questions you might have.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How long will Durham Region remain in the red tier?
The Provincial Government is constantly reviewing public health data and making decisions regarding the status of each region in its COVID-19 response framework. What happens if we’re able to resume the season?
In the event that Durham Region moves into the orange tier, every effort will be made to restart the ASHL Fall ’20 season in Oshawa as quickly as possible. In the event of a resumption of the season, the following scenarios shall apply based on team fees paid:

▪ 75% or more of guaranteed games played: The team shall receive a credit based on the team fees paid to date, and the number of guaranteed games the team had completed at the time of cancellation.
